History of Chain's Quarter Horses

Shelly and I started Chain's Quarter Horses in 1991 with the purchase of Diamond Sun Glo from Carol Rose of Gainsville, TX.

We were both country kids who grew up in the Medicine Lodge area.  Both of us loved the horses used in the ranching and farming operations we grew up in.

The operation grew from Diamond Sun Glo (1989-2007) to five stallions we now stand to outside mares.  All stallions are broke to ride and must possess cow sense and pass these traits on to their foals.  Ride, disposition, and eye appeal are all strong traits that we demand in our stallions.

Chain's has grown as we now run between 40 and 50 head of broodmares.  All mares have to be cow and performance bred to make the Chain's broodmare brand.  Cow, ride and disposition is also a must in our broodmares and we are adding more color as we improve the mares we purchase and keep out of our stallions for replacements.

Chain's now holds a production sale every year for our customers who breed mares to our stallions along with the colts and horses we produce at the ranch.  We have about 80-90 head of colts and horses of all ages go through this sale and have sold offspring all across the U.S. and Mexico.  We advertise nationally along with local newspapers and radio stations.

Sale day is a very special occasion for us here at Chain's Quarter Horses as the whole family is pulled together to make this day happen.  We have 5 children of our own and they all play an important part in this operation.  We also have 13 grandchildren and they contribute as well... be it good or be it bad.  But they are still a big part of this operation and we love them all  We have special local friends and neighbors who contribute all year long and we really appreciate their friendship and their help.

The coffee pot is always on and Shelly and I would like to invite everyone to stop by and visit with us and inspect our horses... anytime
